bwin必赢细胞与基因技术研究院特聘杰出教授；前美国加州大学戴维斯分校教授，在国际上首次提出原创性学术概念 “Aberrant Cell Cycle Diseases (ACCD)”。该理论系统揭示了神经系统疾病和癌症的共同病理基础-细胞周期异常，不仅为神经系统疾病提供了全新的科学解释，也为相关的新药研发开辟了全新的方向。
基于ACCD理论框架，课题组建立学科交融的科研项目“抑癌元素（抑癌miRNA增强剂、癌基因/激酶抑制剂）治疗神经系统疾病的机制研究与产业转化”，研究领域涵盖：脑外伤、脑血栓、脑溢血以及阿尔茨海默病等重大神经系统疾病。在“抑癌元素治疗神经系统疾病”这一国际前沿领域，刘课题组始终保持原创引领。一系列科研和教学成果包括：获得两项NIH R01，申报三项专利，发表70余篇专业论文，撰写一门本科生课程，培养10余名医学博士及博士后。
